Classical Guitarist



Kevin Garry, Professor of Music at Front Range Community College, is an award winning guitarist of numerous accomplishments. After taking an interest in the classical guitar at an early age, Kevin quickly went on to place in several national guitar competitions, including the Northwest Guitar Festival in Portland OR., the Classical Guitar Competition in Seattle, WA., and the Allied Arts Competition in Spokane, WA.
As a featured soloist, Dr. Garry has performed with the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder, CO, The MahlerFest, in Boulder CO, and the Evergreen, Washington, and Aurora, Colorado orchestras.

Dr. Garry has been sought out by numerous composers such as Bryan Johanson, John Drumheller and Charles Argersinger to premier numerous original works, written for him, for the classical guitar. Recent appearances include solo concerts at the University of Wyoming and Puget Sound University, Seattle, WA., and performances in Ireland at Ollscoil Luimnigh (University of Limerick) and St. Cronan's Church. He has also contributed several journal articles on guitar history and is the author and recording artist of the highly successful and award-winning eMedia Guitar Series, distributed internationally since 1998.

A former student of Charles Wolzien, Steve Novacek, and James Reid, Kevin Garry received his doctorate in guitar performance from the University of Colorado in 2002. Dr. Garry maintains an active musical career that includes performing with Peruvian guitar virtuoso Alfredo Muro and Irish master fiddler Manus McGuire. He is also the founding member of the Colorado Guitar Quartet, and performs regularly in the violin-guitar duo Avalon.
